In case you missed it, Google plans to run entirely on renewable energy in 2017, a 16th century castle is going green, and we have the top 10 money habits that are breaking your bank.

1. New York Times: Google will run entirely on renewable energy in 2017

Next year, Google plans to have all of its energy come from wind farms and solar panels. Their off-shore data centers will be powered by each country's most prominent sustainable energy source. This is huge news, especially because Google consumed the same energy as San Francisco in 2015.

2. Barrons: Philanthropy marketers—This is the secret for getting millennials to support your cause.

Millennials are a generation known for donating time before money. Some newer charities are betting that allowing millennial donors to get involved by volunteering, organizing creative fundraisers, and other direct efforts will pay off in a bigger way than a passive request for money.

3. Trend in Tech: Scientists are turning waste from nuclear power plants into diamond batteries.

These batteries have the potential to produce power for thousands of years, making them ideal for use in medical devices, spacecraft, and satellites. This also reduces the amount of dangerous radioactive waste that just sits on our earth for over 5,000 years as it decomposes.

4. Architectural Digest: The 16th-century Dromoland Castle is going green.

The O’Brien Clan wasn’t worried about their carbon footprint when they commissioned the castle over 500 years ago, but as tourism to the castle grows, the management is doing their part to help save the world.

5. Success: The 10 reasons you are always broke.

If you hang around bad budgeters, you’re going to start acting like one, but that’s only one reason why your account balance is lower than it should be.
